Carl Webster is back at it again, and this time he’s set his sights on someone who already looks fragile in Weatherfield. The Coronation Street villain has built a reputation for tearing lives apart, and today’s episode shows him starting a brand-new flirting game with newcomer Jodie Ramsey. The way he approaches her makes it feel less like harmless charm and more like a calculated move toward another vulnerable local.
Carl Webster Spots An Opening After Months Of Destruction
It’s hard to believe Carl Webster has only been on the cobbles for nine months, because he’s already left serious damage behind. He ruined his brother Kevin’s marriage to Abi, then jumped into another affair, this time with James Bailey.
The cheating got exposed right before Debbie Webster’s wedding, turning the drama into public humiliation. Abi made it her mission to stop Carl escaping to Germany, especially after he stole thousands from the Chariot Square Hotel and planned to disappear before anyone could hold him accountable.
Carl’s escape plan fell apart when his car got caught in a multi-vehicle pile-up. He panicked over the risk of being sent down for drink driving, then made a horrifying decision to protect himself. He dragged Debbie’s lifeless body into the driver’s seat and let her believe she caused the death of neighbour Billy Mayhew.
Jodie Ramsey’s Troubled Arrival Makes Her An Easy Target
Carl now stands isolated in Weatherfield, and most people want nothing to do with him. Debbie also has her own reason for staying silent, because she fears her biggest secret coming out. Debbie is actually Carl’s mother, not his sister, and that truth hangs over everything.
Even after all of that, Carl still hunts for his next opening instead of backing off. The latest episode proves he’s ready to start over in the worst possible way. And Jodie becomes the person who catches his eye.
Jodie Ramsey arrived during Corriedale, and she looked shaken after escaping a hostage situation that Graham Foster appeared to mastermind. She has since settled in at the Platts’ house, but the family still doesn’t understand how she ended up caught up in the collision earlier this month. Jodie finally leaves the house after someone encourages her to step out, and she heads to the café. She offers to help out while Nina Lucas goes to the wholesaler, and that’s when Carl notices her.
He watches her closely, then buys Leanne Battersby’s cuppa just to create an excuse to start talking to Jodie. The conversation comes easily, and the two hit it off fast, which only makes the moment feel more worrying. Abi then walks in and looks stunned to see Carl getting cosy with Jodie. Abi warns Jodie to stay away, making it clear that Carl brings danger wherever he goes. But will she listen? Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
