Coronation Street is gearing up for a much-anticipated return that’s sure to bring both nostalgia and excitement to the ITV soap. One of Weatherfield’s fan-favourite characters is stepping back onto the cobbles; and this comeback promises a refreshing twist that long-time viewers have been eagerly awaiting.
The Road Back to the Rovers
Eva Price’s name has been circulating around Corrie fans ever since rumours began about a new family taking over the Rovers following Jenny Bradley’s dramatic exit. Now, Catherine Tyldesley, who originally brought Eva to life, is confirmed to be reprising her role later this month, joining the fresh faces soon to take charge of the iconic pub. The actress recently opened up about what it feels like to return to the show that shaped so much of her early career.

She credited producer Kate Brooks for giving the series what she described as a “return to its roots,” a move that many fans have been asking for. Tyldesley expressed admiration for Brooks, calling her a huge fan of the show herself. She explained that watching the latest episodes feels just like the Coronation Street she grew up with. For Tyldesley, that sense of “old school Corrie” has been missing in recent years.
Catherine Tyldesley Promises the “Old School” Corrie Feel
Speaking to The Mirror, Tyldesley shared that every new script she’s received has left her surprised and impressed. She revealed that the writing team, under Brooks’ leadership, has been pushing creative boundaries. According to her, there’s a sense of daring storytelling at play now. However, she believes that hasn’t been seen in quite some time.

She mentioned that each script makes her think, “Can you believe they’re actually doing this?”. But added that it all works beautifully because it remains grounded in that classic Coronation Street spirit. Tyldesley called it “hugely important” that the show retains its identity while still evolving to keep audiences hooked.
Beyond her return, Tyldesley also teased another thrilling project on the horizon. Yes, the highly anticipated crossover between Coronation Street and Emmerdale, officially titled Corriedale. Describing the project as “dead exciting,” Tyldesley admitted she could hardly wait to see fans’ reactions once it airs. She even joked about how her own mum would be beside herself watching her two favourite shows merge. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street news, spoilers, and updates.
