Coronation Street is never short of drama, but an upcoming storyline is about to take things up a notch. With feelings running high, past grievances simmering, and a bitter family row at the center of it, a scheme is being put into action that will leave one Weatherfield resident shattered and in the dark.
Daisy Turns to Her Mum as Tensions With Jenny Boil Over
Amy Robbins, who portrays Christina Boyd, will be back on the cobbles as she allies herself with daughter Daisy Midgeley in a dramatic plot involving Jenny Connor. Although Christina hasn‘t appeared on the Street since 2023, she’s returning with a very particular purpose that aligns far too well with Daisy‘s own grievances.
Talking before her return, Robbins said the mother and daughter finally bond over their common dislike of Jenny. She added that it‘s the first time viewers will see Daisy going to her mum for help, and Christina doesn’t mind showing up when she‘s called upon. As Robbins describes, Christina loves the opportunity to play it just a little bit dirty so she can get even with Jenny.
Christina’s deep-seated bitterness is because Jenny not only stole her husband but also appears to have everything Christina desires, particularly the close relationship with Daisy. Robbins added that Christina still hasn’t gotten over Jenny “stealing” her husband and called her jealousy “pure.” She said Christina probably resents Jenny for her confidence and relationship with her daughter, something Christina sacrificed when she left years ago.
While Christina’s motivations lie in the past, Daisy’s fury is more current. The feud intensifies when she discovers that Jenny has hidden a £60,000 nest egg from her – money that Daisy feels is rightfully hers, as her father invested it throughout his marriage to Jenny.
Robbins discovered that Daisy phones her mum and requests assistance in regaining what she feels is hers. Christina, always looking for opportunity, agrees and informs her daughter that the money should be theirs. The two of them then start scheming ways to reclaim.
Coronation Street: The Cruel Catfishing Plot Intended to Break Jenny’s Heart
With their agendas aligned, Christina and Daisy concoct a plan that’s nothing short of sinister. The two set up a bogus online dating profile under a man named Dom, fully aware that Jenny is lonely and in need of companionship. They take advantage of this weakness, having Jenny fall head over heels in love with a man who doesn’t even exist.
Robbins referred to the plan as manipulative and intricate. She said Jenny is thrilled with her new cyber romance and thinks she’s found someone great. Meanwhile, Christina is doing the messaging, posing as Dom and playing into Jenny’s fantasy. Robbins conceded it’s a mean trick, meant to destroy Jenny emotionally, and referred to it all as “wicked and cruel.”
Christina Revealed More…
She further explained that as much as the scheme might look malicious, Christina is convinced that she’s doing it out of love for Daisy. She feels she’s defending her daughter and attempting to get rid of the woman she perceives has been in their way for a long time. Robbins noted that Daisy’s anger towards Jenny has boiled over, particularly after some biting words and a series of exchanges. The two are set on watching Jenny lose everything.
As Daisy’s exit from Weatherfield approaches, this storyline could also mark the end of Christina’s arc, at least for now. Robbins said she’s thoroughly enjoyed the drama, especially because it’s been relevant and timely. She mentioned watching a recent documentary about catfishing. That made her realise just how relatable and intriguing this storyline could be for viewers.
Fans will have to wait for dire consequences once the truth hits Jenny. Everyone sets their eyes on Daisy and Christina as they manipulate from behind. It will be one of the most stunning deceptions Weatherfield has witnessed recently. The upcoming Coronation Street spoilers can only reveal how it plays out.
