David and Shona Platt already have enough on their plate, and things are only getting more complicated. With Shona’s pregnancy bringing worry, fear, and big decisions, the couple are trying to stay strong for each other. But just when it feels like they’re barely keeping their heads above water, a new twist in Coronation Street threatens to push them into even deeper trouble.

Life Hasn’t Been Easy for David and Shona

Recently on Coronation Street, David and Shona were hit with heartbreaking news when doctors told them their unborn baby girl has a tumour. They also explained that the surgery needed to help the baby would be complicated and high-risk, and it could put Shona’s life in danger.

The news left the couple shaken and unsure about what the right choice really is. While David found himself struggling with doubts and fears, Shona refused to focus on the risks.

She remained determined to carry the pregnancy to full term and tried to stay positive, even when the situation was clearly serious. Her decision caused tension between them, especially as David worried about losing her.

Things became even more strained when Shona chose to keep the baby’s condition a secret from family and friends. David tried to go along with it, but the pressure became too much. Unable to pretend everything was fine, he eventually revealed the truth.

The Crossover Puts Them in Serious Danger

As if their personal struggles weren’t enough, David and a pregnant Shona are now confirmed to be involved in the huge Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover episode, Corriedale. The hour-long special centres around a terrifying multi-vehicle crash on a country road near the village of Hotten. In the dramatic trailer, David and Shona are seen injured at the roadside after the pile-up.

Emmerdale’s Jacob Gallagher is shown helping them as emergency services arrive and the scale of the accident becomes clear. Julia Goulding spoke at the Corriedale premiere at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, part of the UK City of Culture 2025 celebrations. When asked what she could tease, she admitted she couldn’t reveal anything at all. She did, however, talk about filming the scenes, explaining that the cast spent five weeks doing night shoots.

Julia shared that filming nights wasn’t as bad as people might expect once everyone adjusted to the routine. She said there were moments of tiredness. But she also joked that sweets, especially Haribos, and plenty of tea helped keep everyone going. While she stayed tight-lipped on spoilers, she hinted that the crash is only the start of a tough time. She later teased what’s coming next.
