David and Shona plan a dinner to celebrate their wedding anniversary in Coronation Street, but the evening doesn’t go the way they hoped. A small mistake soon snowballs into a very awkward situation and when a familiar face shows up at the Bistro, things quickly go downhill for the couple.

A Sweet Plan With A Twist

It’s been six years since David and Shona got married, and fans will remember how dramatic that wedding was. David had just been released from prison after conning his gran, Audrey and had only just made it to the ceremony. Still, despite everything, the pair have managed to stay strong through all the chaos. This year, David decides to surprise Shona with something nice.

CS/ David surprises Shona

In typical David fashion, he starts by pretending her anniversary gift is just a six-pack of lager. Shona’s not impressed, but soon finds out he’s joking. The real surprise though, is a dinner reservation at the Bistro; the same place where they tied the knot back in 2019. Shona loves the idea and gets all dressed up for the special night. With her pregnancy keeping her off the drinks, she’s expecting a calm, romantic evening. But things don’t go according to plan.

The Booking Blunder That Changes Everything

The night takes a turn when they arrive at the Bistro and discover David’s made a classic mix-up; he’s booked their table for the wrong day. Embarrassed but hopeful, he tries to sort it out, only to learn the place is full. The only option left is to share a table with another couple. To make matters worse, that couple turns out to be Sarah Barlow and her boyfriend, Kit Green. And, then comes the awkward silence.

CS/ Anniversary awkwardness

Shona’s history with Kit, that one drunken night they shared last year, still lingers, even if everyone’s tried to move on. David and Kit have made an effort to keep things civil lately, but sitting down together again is a real test. Sarah does her best to lighten the mood, hoping her brother won’t lose his temper before the starters arrive.

At first, everyone tries to play nice, but it doesn’t last long. David’s frustration over the booking slip-up mixes with his discomfort around Kit, while Kit’s laid-back attitude only makes things worse. Shona keeps trying to steer the conversation away from trouble, but the tension’s getting harder to ignore. By dessert time, the atmosphere at the table is so tense that even the Bistro staff can sense something’s about to explode.
