Things are getting darker by the minute for Debbie in Coronation Street. She already had so much to deal with and now, Debbie Webster’s prison visit with Kevin and Jack takes a worrying turn next week. There should have been a hopeful update about her appeal. But now, there are clear signs that her condition is getting worse.
Debbie Struggles In Prison Is Only Getting Worse
Debbie’s condition continues to decline, and prison life is only making things harder for her. When Kevin and Jack visit her on Thursday, they arrive feeling hopeful, especially after hearing positive news about her appeal. However, that optimism quickly fades once they spend time with her.
Earlier in the week, Debbie becomes disoriented and struggles to understand what’s happening around her.

Her confusion soon turns into anger when she accuses a prison officer of stealing her journal, creating a tense situation that could seriously affect her appeal.
Lou Michaelis realises the risk and steps in to protect her. She deliberately starts a fight with another inmate to distract everyone from Debbie’s outburst. Lou’s actions stop things from escalating, but they also highlight just how vulnerable Debbie has become.
Kevin And Jack Grow Worried in Coronation Street
When Kevin and Jack sit down with Debbie later in the week, they try to keep the conversation light. Debbie asks about Carl, but Kevin avoids answering, clearly unsure how to handle it. She then tells them she has been knitting a jumper for her son, showing a glimpse of her usual warmth.
Kevin shares that Adam Barlow feels optimistic about her appeal and says she could be home very soon. But Debbie doesn’t seem convinced. Instead, she talks about settling into prison life and mentions taking woodworking classes, suggesting she is preparing herself to stay longer.

During the visit, a small moment says everything. Debbie struggles to open a drink carton, and Jack steps in to help her. And, then comes the turning point. Soon they realise her dementia symptoms are getting worse.
Actress Sue Devaney has spoken about portraying Debbie during this difficult phase. She explained that Debbie is usually someone who keeps up appearances from how she looks to how she presents her life; but prison strips all of that away.
She said it is interesting to play Debbie without those layers, as it raises the question of who she really is when everything is taken away. The character becomes more raw and exposed in this setting. As her symptoms worsen, the fear now goes beyond her appeal. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
