As Dee-Dee Bailey prepares to say goodbye to Coronation Street, her final days in Weatherfield have been filled with emotion and big decisions. While her exit storyline plays out on screen, fans have also been curious about what this change means beyond the soap, especially for the actor who has brought Dee-Dee to life for the past three years.
Channique Sterling-Brown Shares What’s Next After Coronation Street
Recent episodes of Coronation Street have shown Dee-Dee coming to terms with a major life choice. The solicitor decided to take up a new job in Singapore, even though the move complicated the co-parenting arrangement. Before committing to the move, Dee-Dee ended her relationship with Ollie Driscoll. When she finally told her family about her plans, James struggled to hide how devastated he felt about losing both his sister and his niece.

As her time on the soap comes to an end, Channique Sterling-Brown has opened up about leaving Corrie. Appearing on Lorraine, she spoke warmly about stepping into a new creative chapter. She revealed that she is currently writing a play for Hope Mill Theatre, working alongside Her Productions. The project is being developed with the support of Her Place, which focuses on supporting women whose children are taken into social care.
Keepsakes, Dream Roles, And An Open Door
Sterling-Brown explained that the play looks at social care and how women are supported during that difficult process. She added that the story still has a legal thread running through it, as it focuses on family law. She shared that she feels excited about the project and confirmed that it is set to open in March.

Looking back on her final days on set, Sterling-Brown admitted that she took quite a few items from Dee-Dee’s wardrobe. She shared that she kept the character’s ‘D’ necklace as a special reminder of her time on the show. She also revealed that she hoped to take Dee-Dee’s Princess Diana magnet, explaining that the character was named after Princess Diana.
However, she joked that the magnet stayed behind on set and the crew may have hidden it from her. When talking about future roles, Sterling-Brown shared that she would love to try something completely different and play a villain. She mentioned Lady Macbeth as a dream role, saying it would be a total contrast to Dee-Dee’s nature. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street updates.
