Christmas might still be a few months away, but Coronation Street is already getting into the festive spirit. Filming has started for the holiday episodes, and two of our long-time favourites have shared future updates. While fans are still digesting the fallout from shocking recent events, the stars of Coronation Street have started dropping early hints about what’s to come.
Christmas Filming Begins
Jennie McAlpine and Alan Halsall, who play Fiz and Tyrone, appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about what’s coming up. Jennie revealed that they’ve already been shooting scenes for the festive season, including a Christmas party for the Underworld team. She explained that only last week, she and Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk, were on set in Santa hats.
Kirk’s hat even had sequins on it. It’s clear the factory party will bring some of the fun moments, though in Weatherfield these gatherings rarely go according to plan. Besides, Alan also added that Christmas on Corrie is never without drama, and this year will be no exception.
A Soap Crossover on the Way
Alan also let slip some exciting news about what’s coming further down the line. He said ITV has planned a special crossover episode in 2026, which will bring together characters from Coronation Street and Emmerdale. The one-hour special will be a standalone episode, airing around January, and it will see the two soap worlds share the screen for the first time.
Alan admitted he wasn’t sure how much of it he should be saying, but it’s clearly something the cast are looking forward to. While the teasers look ahead to Christmas and beyond, viewers were left stunned by last night’s episode. Tyrone was hit by a speeding car driven by Dylan Wilson and Brody Michaelis, leaving him rushed to hospital.
