Coronation Street is buzzing as ITV officially acknowledges the crossover that combines the two popular British TV shows. Coronation Street and Emmerdale, into one dramatic special, after long rumours circulated. The audience has been discovering hints for weeks, and the very first teaser is quite clear that this is something way beyond a regular episode. Continue reading to find out more.
What Exactly Is Corriedale?
Corriedale fuses the well-known characters of Coronation Street and Emmerdale into one packed hour. Basically, the main trailer is very clear about the team that they are not doing just another episode. The key story revolves around an enormous multi-vehicle pile-up that, in a way, brings Weatherfield and Emmerdale together in the most disorderly manner.
There are also scenes of characters calling for help at the top of their voices. And the emergency responders struggle to reach the victims. Elsewhere, the audience is analysing every moment on the off-chance that a key character might be left here. The advertisement has a cast list showing the involvement of Vicky Myers, Jack P Shepherd, and Kate Ford for Coronation Street. Meanwhile, Johnny McPherson and Danny Miller are the representatives of Emmerdale.

For weeks, ITV has been teasing the crossover with little hints that spread across both soaps. For instance, the wanted posters of John Sugden can be seen at Weatherfield police station. And Belle Dingle gives offhand information about Debbie Webster’s Christmas Day wedding. These hints seem to be converging on a single plot that leads both towns to end up in the same perilous situation.
Coronation Street: When The Specials Air
ITV did not reveal the exact broadcast date as of December 10. However, the channel has stated that it will be there in the first week of January 2025. This move signifies a drastic change for audiences who have been familiar with the consistent scheduling of both programs. As Emmerdale now airs at 7:30 pm with an hour on Thursdays, and Coronation Street is on three one-hour episodes divided between Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights.

The timetable becomes simpler from January 2026, as each soap will be airing its individual thirty-minute episodes every weekday consecutively. So Emmerdale will be the first one to show its episode at 8 pm. And after that, Coronation Street will be aired at 8:30 pm.
