Fans of Coronation Street have already received a surprise as Julie Carp made an unexpected return to the cobbles. The much-loved character, played by Katy Cavanagh, steps back into Weatherfield and brings a mix of nostalgia with her. Julie’s return is sudden and has left many to wonder about her intentions.
How long will she stay? Why has she chosen to return at this moment? While the show keeps those details under the wraps, Cavanagh has confirmed that this comeback is for a short stint, just to bring closure. While the reasons for her return remain a secret, we are sure that it will play a crucial role in Eileen Grimshaw’s departure story.
A Short But Significant Comeback
Talking about her comeback, the Coronation Street actress shared her excitement about reprising the role. She said, “It was really lovely to get the call. It is something I haven’t thought about for many years. And I’m very fond of Julie, so it was a good feeling.” She also expressed how great it was for Julie to be a part of Eileen’s exit story. She added, “It is perfect to come and have some closure on Julie and Eileen, to kind of revisit her. And, you know, there was such a lovely vibe between Julie and Eileen. You know, we are having a lot of fun together.”
Julie’s comeback also comes with a striking change. Cavanagh revealed that she dyed her hair blonde for the first time in 10 years, just to look similar to how she was when she left in 2015. She jokingly said, “All my family were quite shocked to see me blonde again, and I suddenly went, ‘Oh, I feel like I did 10 years ago”.
We are absolutely enjoying Julie’s comeback, but we are quite emotional about Eileen’s departure. How the departure happens is yet to be revealed in the upcoming Emmerdale spoilers. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more soap updates.
