“It’ll Be Just Like When We’re Married”: Coronation Street Exposes Theo’s Chilling New Control Over Todd

By Roy

Coronation Street has exposed a chilling new layer of Theo Silverton’s behaviour, as his relationship with Todd Grimshaw takes an even more controlling turn. What Theo presents as care and concern slowly reveals itself as something far darker, leaving Todd increasingly trapped, emotionally and financially, under the guise of love and commitment.

Theo Uses Money As His Latest Tool Of Control

The warning signs surfaced when Theo casually opened a letter addressed to Todd and discovered his growing credit card debt. Todd, clearly mortified, quickly explained that he was already dealing with it and promised he had repayment plans in place. Theo didn’t let it slide, though, pushing the issue until Todd felt pressured into apologising.

CS/ Theo controls Todd

After applying that pressure, Theo suddenly softened his approach. He told Todd he wanted to help ease the debt, presenting himself as supportive. But the concern soon shifted into control when Theo suggested they open a joint account so they could “keep track” of spending together.

Smiling, he told Todd, “It’ll be just like when we’re married, eh? One pot for all,” framing the idea as a natural step toward their future. Todd hesitated but ultimately agreed, unaware that this was only the beginning of Theo tightening his grip.

Frugality Turns Into Financial Policing

Later, Todd returned to the flat with steaks for dinner, clearly trying to do something nice. Theo immediately reminded him that they were meant to be cutting back and being “more frugal.”

Once again, Todd was left red-faced and apologised, while Theo maintained his calm, almost charming tone. Theo then explained his theory about spending, telling Todd that people waste less money when they pay with cash rather than cards because they physically feel the loss.

CS/ Theo gains his control once more

When you use a card, he said, it’s just tap after tap until the money is gone. Todd agreed with the logic, not realising how far Theo planned to take it. Using that agreement, Theo insisted they both get rid of their bank cards. Todd reluctantly handed his over, only to freeze in shock as Theo immediately cut them in half, making the decision irreversible and stripping Todd of any independence in that moment.

Theo then crossed another line by demanding Todd’s online banking details, stating that he would “take control” of the finances until the joint account was set up. He brushed aside Todd’s visible discomfort, reassuring him not to worry. He even insisted that if Todd needed anything, he could simply ask. With Theo disguising domination as devotion, the question now is whether Todd will find the courage to confide in someone. Or if Theo’s promise of a shared future has become the very trap that keeps him stuck. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
