James On Edge in Coronation Street
Jason, who plays James, said that joining Corrie felt a bit like starting a new relationship. He joked that once he got past the awkward stage, he was completely in love, and it’s showing, because he’s right in the thick of a major storyline. James has been trying to adopt Laila, but it’s not been easy.
Dee-Dee recently found out she can’t have kids of her own, and now she’s really bonded with the baby. That made James nervous. Jason said James is definitely worried. Deep down, he knows that if Dee-Dee changes her mind and wants to keep Laila, there’s not much he can do legally. So he’s constantly on edge, just waiting for something to go wrong.

And next week, it does. Dee-Dee goes behind James’s back and secretly organises a christening for Laila, even though he’d already said no to it. When he finds out, it breaks his trust. Jason said that for James, this is the final straw. If Dee-Dee can do something like that without telling him, what else might she do?
So James takes action. He moves ahead with the adoption and starts the legal process to make sure he’s Laila’s only guardian and father. “He’s going to go hell for leather,” Jason said. James isn’t playing nice anymore, he’s making sure it’s all sorted in black and white. But it causes a big rift in the family. Ed tries to keep the peace, but he knows how much this means to Dee-Dee. Meanwhile, James is left feeling completely alone.

While all this drama’s going on, fans have been noticing something between James and Todd. They seem to have a bit of chemistry. And Jason’s not denying it! He said, “Without a doubt,” they’d make a great couple. “They’re two gorgeous men!” He also said they’d be brilliant dads together, and described them both as sensitive and loving, the kind of blokes who’d really look after each other.
