While Dee-Dee’s been right in the middle of the drama on Coronation Street, the actress behind her, Channique Sterling-Brown, has been quietly thinking about what she might want to do in the future. She’s not leaving the show anytime soon, but she recently shared some of the things she’d like to try one day, and it all sounds really nice.
She’s Happy on Coronation Street, But She’s Thinking Ahead
In a chat with My Weekly, Channique said she’d love to travel more and maybe even live abroad for a little while. Not permanently, just long enough to try something new and take in a different way of life.
She also mentioned wanting to learn how to play a musical instrument. It’s not something she’s started yet, but it’s on her list. It’s clear she’s thinking beyond just work, she’s got personal goals too, and she wants to make time for them when the moment feels right.
She’d Like to Try Some Different Roles Too
Even though she really enjoys playing Dee-Dee, Channique said she’s also interested in taking on completely different characters in the future. She said she’d love to play a villain, just to do something new. And can you guess which is the one role she’s into? It’s none other than Lady Macbeth. That would be a big change from what we see on the cobbles, but she seems ready to try something a bit more serious and intense whenever the time comes.
At the same time, she spoke very fondly of Coronation Street. She said it’s been a defining part of her career, and that it’s changed her life. She’s learned a lot from it and is clearly grateful for the experience. But she also knows she’s still young, and there’s more she wants to explore when the time is right.
Channique’s not going anywhere for now. She’s still part of Corrie and her character Dee-Dee has plenty going on. But it’s always nice to hear what actors are thinking about outside the show too. She’s got a thoughtful way of looking at things, and she’s not rushing into anything. When the time comes, she’ll try something new, but for now, she’s still enjoying where she is.
