Coronation Street fans are always talking about who should stay and who should leave Weatherfield. This time, viewers have been discussing which former characters deserve a comeback and which current residents may have run out of stories.
From missing family members to long-serving favourites, fans have plenty of opinions about the future of the cobbles. Scroll down to see who fans want to see return!
Fans Want To See Missing Family Members Return
The discussion began when one fan pointed out several relatives who have never been properly seen on screen. They questioned why Kit’s father and Brody’s grandfather have never appeared, especially since he is said to be close to the family.
The fan also suggested that Hope and Ruby’s grandparents, aunts, and other relatives should be introduced. They added Eva’s mum, Emma Booker, Dev’s other children, and Webster sisters Sophie and Rosie to the list of characters who could return for believable reasons.

Many viewers agreed, especially when it came to Sophie and Rosie. One fan felt their absence no longer makes sense considering everything the Webster family has gone through recently.
They said, “Sophie and Rosie are an absurd case. There is no logical explanation why they would not temporarily return after what the Websters have been through.”
Viewers Share More Ideas For Future Storylines
As the conversation continued, fans started suggesting other characters they would like to see again. One viewer mentioned Sinead’s mother and grandmother. Although they were not a huge fan of Sinead herself, they felt her family members were great characters and should return to confront Daniel about his treatment of Bertie.
Another fan said they would love to see Roy’s foster son Wade again, remembering his surprise appearance during the factory roof insurance investigation. Amber was also mentioned as a character with plenty of untapped potential. Some viewers even named characters they know are unlikely to return, including Danny Baldwin, Andy MacDonald, and Karen MacDonald.

Current characters were also part of the discussion. Several fans felt Nina, Asha, Dylan, Betsy, and Amy deserve much bigger storylines. One viewer said Nina has become little more than Roy’s assistant, while Amy now mostly appears in stories that focus on Steve or Tracy.
One fan also noted that Tyrone’s father is expected to appear soon, which will finally give Hope and Ruby a grandparent on screen.
Coronation Street: Some Current Residents Are Losing Fan Support
While many fans talked about possible returns, others focused on characters they think should leave. Sean Tully was one of the most frequently mentioned names. The original poster argued that Sean has already had major storylines involving homelessness and fatherhood and now seems to spend most of his time worrying about Dylan.
Not everyone agreed with that opinion. One fan defended Sean with a joke, writing, “Without Sean there would be no more of Betty’s hotpot, lol.” Even so, many viewers still felt that Sean no longer plays an important role on the Street.

Other names that appeared in the discussion included Toyah, Leanne, Bethany, Maria, Alya, Jodie, Carl, Daniel, Adam, Lisa, Kirk, and Brian. Some fans questioned what purpose certain characters now serve, while others felt they simply have not had interesting stories for a long time. Jodie was particularly unpopular, with several viewers saying they wanted her gone. However, not every fan wanted characters removed. One viewer actually wanted Maria to get a major storyline.
They said, “Unpopular opinion. I actually would like Maria to have a big storyline. Nothing health or crime related though. Just feel like we should give Samia some range.” The debate shows just how passionate Coronation Street fans remain about the future of Weatherfield and the characters they want to see on screen.
