Wednesday’s Coronation Street episode might have just revealed the next huge plot twist, and fans can’t help but gossip. Following a dramatic row with his boyfriend, Todd Grimshaw ended up at the Rovers with an old friend in tow, which resulted in a shocking moment that’s now causing huge speculation online.
Todd and Theo Experience Another Bumpy Patch
Todd’s recent relationship with Theo Silverton hasn’t been smooth sailing. In this episode, things continued to go downhill as the couple squabbled once more. Todd went to the Rovers to calm down after the row, and that’s where he bumped into newly dumped James Bailey.
Before long, the two were having a drink and discussing their own relationship issues. James sympathized with Todd’s plight, but he also went out of his way to try and defend Theo, demonstrating maturity in his dialogue.
And yet, even though things were so serious, their conversation had an oddly smooth air to it. Audiences quickly realized that the conversation seemed more authentic than anything Todd and Theo have ever exchanged onscreen in weeks.
Coincidentally, this comes as something actor Jason Callender, James’s actor, just spilled. Speaking with Inside Soap, he hinted that James is to have a romantic encounter, one that would come as a surprise to fans. “It’s someone that the audience will not see coming,” he revealed, continuing, “When I found out, I was so excited. I was like, ‘I don’t even know if we can do this!'”
Fans Feel Chemistry in Coronation Street
It was no surprise it did not take long for fans to hop on social media. Most remarked on the undeniable chemistry between Todd and James, with one remarking, “James and Todd have more chemistry than Todd and Theo, this silly little show got it wrong.”
In addition, another supporter said that their very first encounter was warmer and more charming than any scene Todd and Theo have shared together since meeting. Some went further and asked the writers to “bin Theo” and allow Todd “have some fun with James” instead.
Evidently, fans are already rooting for this possible new couple. As one viewer summed up, “Why do Todd and James seem more comfortable around each other than Todd does around Theo?” For some, the chemistry is undeniable, and it has fans wondering if this could be the next soap romantic upset.
At the same time, there is more drama brewing for Todd and Theo. In upcoming scenes that will air next week, Todd’s suspect move might drive their already troubled relationship to the edge. Out for the night, he secretly switches Theo’s phone to airplane mode to keep him free from distractions.
