CS/ Theo feels guilty

Coronation Street Fans Stunned As Theo Cuts Off Todd’s Financial Freedom

By Roy

Control, not love, defines Theo Silverton’s relationship with Todd Grimshaw right now on Coronation Street. Just as Todd struggles with grief and isolation, Theo makes another calculated move that tightens his hold. What looks like concern on the surface quickly turns into something far more disturbing, leaving Todd with even less freedom than before.

Theo Uses Todd’s Vulnerability To Tighten Control

Theo Silverton steps up his manipulation at the worst possible time for Todd Grimshaw. Todd has just buried Billy Mayhew, his ex-boyfriend and best friend, who had been the only person aware of the abuse Todd faced at home.

Losing Billy removes Todd’s only safe outlet and leaves him emotionally exposed. The funeral drives home a painful truth for Todd; he feels he has no way out. Still, he remains unaware that Theo contributed to Billy’s death by leaving him to die in a burning minibus.

CS/ Todd’s eulogy for Billy

While Todd mourns, Theo quietly benefits from the silence Billy’s death creates. Theo even turns the funeral into another tool of control. He delivers the eulogy and uses it to deepen Todd’s guilt rather than comfort him. When they clash right after the ceremony, it becomes obvious that Theo plans to keep Todd under pressure, not support him through grief.

Financial Control Becomes Theo’s New Weapon

Theo’s latest cruel move arrives in the form of a final demand letter from a credit card company. The letter exposes Todd’s financial strain, which connects to a previous incident where Theo sabotaged him by putting all his clean shirts in the wash.

Todd missed an important workday because of that stunt. His boss George Shuttleworth fired him for the absence, leaving Todd jobless for weeks. During that period, Todd depended on Theo for money and took out a loan just to survive.

He has struggled to repay it ever since. When Theo reads the letter, he reacts with anger and frames the issue as a threat to their future. He tells Todd that entering married life with debt in both their names is unacceptable.

Todd, clearly ashamed, insists he is handling it, but Theo does not leave the matter there. That same night, Theo proposes opening a joint bank account so they can monitor each other’s spending. He presents the idea as sensible, but the real intention shows quickly. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
