This is frustrating news for Coronation Street fans as ITV changes the soap’s usual broadcast schedule. The ITV drama, which usually airs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, will be shown twice this week. As major sports events come up on the priority list, Friday’s episode has been removed from the schedule, which has clearly frustrated the regular soap fans.
Why Is the Friday Episode Missing?
ITV has opted to replace the Friday night slot of the soap with live coverage of the Rugby Six Nations Championship. Following Emmerdale at 7:30 p.m., the channel will air the match between France and Wales, which will go on until 10:35 p.m. However, the night’s programming will continue with the news and an episode of The 1% Club.
As of now, ITV has not confirmed when the missing episode will be rescheduled. Though fans are keeping their hopes high. Many are expecting a weekend episode on Sunday, but ITV has confirmed no such plans. It looks like the next confirmed episode will broadcast on Monday at 8 p.m.
The decision to drop Friday’s episode has led to frustration among fans. Viewers took to social media to express their disappointment. One viewer wrote, “Yes, bad news for all you Corrie fans, as there are going to be only two episodes this week. Monday and Wednesday are normal, whereas Friday there is no episode due to the Rugby Six Nations takeover on ITV!”
Soon, another chimed in and said, “I’m hoping for an extra episode next Sunday to make up for it, or maybe next week.” Another viewer commented, “Yes, Rugby and the FA Cup football will take over in the coming weeks. Sorry folks.” With episodes of major twists hanging, it’s fair for the fans to get frustrated. But we can hardly do anything here. We will have to wait for Monday to come soon.
