After one of the darkest weeks Todd Grimshaw has faced on Coronation Street, Friday’s episode brought a small but important shift. Theo Silverton still holds power over him. However, for the first time in a long while, Todd was not completely alone and that change could prove more important than anything else right now.
Concern Begins To Break Through After A Difficult Week
Recently, Todd’s situation worsened when Theo cut up his bank cards and left him financially trapped, handing him only £10 while he travelled to Doncaster.
When Theo returned home, the control continued almost immediately. He criticised Todd’s eating habits and appearance and then pushed him into exhausting exercise routines while constantly belittling him.
Meanwhile, Billy Mayhew’s death last month removed the one person Todd trusted most, so he had nobody left to confide in and remained stuck in silence.
Eventually, that silence cracked in the latest episode. With Theo’s insults echoing in his head, Todd forced himself through another run and then collapsed in the street after pushing his body too far.
George And Christina Become A Lifeline
Fortunately, George Shuttleworth and Christina Boyd saw Todd fall and quickly brought him back to the funeral home. At first, George simply noticed how obsessive Todd had become about running and gently questioned him.
Todd insisted he was fine, yet the truth soon surfaced when Christina removed his trainers. Both were horrified to find his feet sore and bloodied from overexertion, which clearly showed that something was very wrong.
“I just need to soak them, that’s all,” Todd said, still trying to minimise the situation. Even so, George urged him to stop before he seriously hurt himself, and after a brief hesitation Todd agreed to ease off for a few days. For weeks, Theo kept Todd isolated and dependent, especially after Billy’s death cut off his emotional support.
