Coronation Street recently created a video for Gail’s last appearance, and we can’t hold back our tears. The video features Helen Worth’s last moments on the soap and her last showdown as Gail Platt. It was from the Christmas Day episode, where Helen exited the show after fifty years. But before we jump to that – let’s find out if Gail got her happy ending or not.
As we have seen, Gail’s journey to marry the love of her life, Jesse, was anything but smooth. Her own family became the biggest obstacle. Audrey went to great lengths to sabotage the relationship, even pretending to be ill to cancel the wedding.
Adding to her turmoil, Gail’s ex-husband Richard made a ghostly return in her dreams, voicing his opinions on the situation. Despite all the drama and obstacles, Gail stood firm and finally married Jesse. Leaving the cobbles behind, the couple set off for France to start the next chapter of their lives together.
Helen Is Overwhelmed
Tributes have been pouring in since last week, and now, the show’s producers have released a new behind-the-scenes video of the star filming her final scene. The clip begins with an assistant saying “cut,” and other cast and crew members come inside the frame. Everyone has tears in their eyes.
Helen Worth says this union is why she has been here for so many years. She says, “It’s more than I can think about… it’s because of all of you people that I have been here for those fifty years…” But she adds that she couldn’t have done all these without her co-stars. “Oh God, I love them so much. I don’t quite know what I’m going to do without you. But thank you for everything,” she ends with this.
