SAD LOSS! Coronation Street Icon Sheila Bernette PASSES AWAY At 94!!

Fans of Coronation Street are in tears as the beloved Sheila Bernette has died at the age of 94. And this loss suddenly brings back to mind all the scenes from years gone by that people had not thought about for a long time. And now, everyone is reflecting on her career, especially on the character Sister Delaney. Keep reading to find out more.

Sheila’s Journey Before And Beyond The Cobbles

The actress was one of those who blended with the older stage era. Before stepping into Weatherfield, she performed in Good Old Days. Elsewhere, she was a part of it from the late sixties to the early eighties. Moreover,  this huge span shows her dedication towards her craft. 

Sheila also worked with big entertainers of that time. The actress had an amazing career. She also worked with David Jason and comedians Morecambe and Wise, as well as Dick Emery, Leslie Crowther and Tommy Cooper. She was respected by people who knew the business long before soap stars became household names.

CS/Sheila has passed away.

She was also part of some lovely movies. It included Three For All, Car Trouble and Driving Aphrodite. Even though they were smaller roles, yet impactful. Elsewhere, even the kids from the 2000s sometimes recognise her. It’s because she played a part in the Hotel Trubble.

Sister Delaney And The “Sleeping Beauty” Storyline In Coronation Street

Fans who have watched the soap through the 70s remember Sheila best as Sister Delaney. Moreover, the July 1973 storyline was one of the most intense storylines of her tenure. It was the “Sleeping Beauty” track. It began when Elsie Tanner went to London to visit her son Dennis. 

She later forgot her purse on a park bench. When she went back to get it, a vehicle hit her. She was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull and a concussion. That was when nurse Sister Delaney and her team became involved. And as a result of her being nameless, they named her Sleeping Beauty. 

CS/Sheila played Sister Delaney on the soap.
