Coronation Street legend Simon Gregson, who became a household name after playing the role of Steve McDonald, is still shocked over the exit of Helen Worth. Regular viewers know that the iconic star left cobbles earlier last June, and her final scenes aired this Christmas Day. We all saw her leaving for France with her new husband, Jesse Chadwick. Even though it was a happy event, we cannot stop getting sad over the fan favorite leaving.
And now, Simon opened up about his initial reaction to Helen’s decision to depart. While appearing on Loose Women, the popular actor said, “It was a bit of a shock at first when we found out she was going because obviously she’s part of the furniture. But I totally get it – 50 years.” He also highlighted that he didn’t have any scenes with her in the farewell storyline, but the duo has shared scenes several times in the past.

Steve Discussed His Mental Health Issues
Despite her recent exit, Corrie showrunner Iain MacLeod spoke to Daily Star and revealed that doors are open for Gail’s return in the future. He told the outlet that he has had a conversation with Helen about the same and she’s open to coming back. “If there’s a big storyline going on with the Platt family. She might want to come in and play a role in that,” MacLeod added.
