Coronation Street just dropped a massive Webster family twist. And it’s already making fans look at Carl in a completely different light. After the show confirmed a long-running theory about Debbie’s true connection to him, Michael Le Vell has hinted that this shock could be just the start.
Michael Le Vell hints the Websters Could Be Hiding An Even Bigger Secret
Coronation Street icon Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, has shared his hopes for another huge family reveal after the show confirmed that Debbie is actually Carl’s biological mother, not his older sister.
Viewers saw the truth start to unravel when Debbie looked through a box of mementoes and found a baby’s hospital band, strongly hinting at what she has been keeping hidden for years.
But Carl still believes his mum was Elaine, and at this point, he has no idea Debbie is his real mother. Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap, Michael admitted the twist impressed everyone behind the scenes too. He said they all thought it was “a good twist,” and once it landed, the cast started building theories around the biggest unanswered question left, who Carl’s dad could be.
Could Carl’s Dad Be Linked to the Platts?
Michael revealed that the possibilities immediately sparked debate, with some familiar names thrown into the mix.
He suggested Terry Duckworth as one possible option, while another name that came up was Brian Tilsley. He explained that the timing fits the era, and even hinted how wild it would be if the storyline connected two major Corrie families.
Michael joked about the idea, saying, “Can you imagine that?” before adding that it would be brilliant if the Platts and the Websters ended up being related somehow. And while the family mystery is now taking centre stage, Carl has already caused serious damage elsewhere.
Kevin has been struggling ever since Abi’s affair with Carl, which pushed his marriage to the breaking point. Michael admitted he felt genuinely upset about Kevin and Abi splitting, saying he was “gutted” to see it happen. At the same time, he made it clear that the storyline has given the show plenty of emotional scope. Michael described it as a “blessing in disguise,” because it opened the door to all this layered Webster family drama. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
