As one element of Lauren‘s existence in Coronation Street appears to rest, a prison visit cuts open old wounds and poses new questions. Lauren Bolton‘s feelings were already raw as she walked the hospital corridors, waiting to hear about her baby son Frankie. After all she‘s been through, the news that the transplant had been successful came as a wave of relief. But that peace was short-lived.
A Confrontation Years in the Making—And a Bombshell Nobody Expected
It wasn’t long before it became apparent where she was going: the prison. Behind the glass during visitation time sat Reece Bolton, her father, once again portrayed by returning actor Scott Anson.
Lauren didn’t waste any time calling him out. Reece had sent the mysterious package, which was a baby kangaroo toy. Lauren informed him she‘d given it to the baby bank, before Reece lost his temper and called her an “ungrateful cow.
The air around them thickened as Lauren broached the hurtful fact about her childhood. She could not comprehend how a parent would so utterly fail her child, particularly now that she was a mother herself.
Pondering her son Frankie made her see just how much she had lacked when growing up. But Reece himself felt little guilt. He accused her of visiting him if she thought he had been such a bad father.
That‘s when Lauren presented her true purpose for being there: to inform him point-blank that she didn’t want him to be part of Frankie‘s life whatsoever. That unequivocal boundary seemed to hit Reece a bit close to home, and in response, he slashed back with a disclosure he clearly aimed to hurt her with.
He told Lauren there was a good chance he wasn’t even her biological father, casually adding that they never pursued a DNA test. He also suggested that her mother had been unfaithful during their relationship.
Lauren Finds Her Own Ground in Coronation Street
Instead of coming apart, Lauren answered with remarkable composure. She informed Reece that she was creating something better for herself and her child—a family consisting of people who cared about her and had her back.
She then returned to the hospital to visit Frankie and subsequently stopped by Roy’s café. There, she spoke with Roy Cropper about everything that had happened with Reece, down to the paternity claim.
Roy reminded her gently that Reece could be attempting to play games with her and advised that a DNA test may provide some clarity if she wished to know the truth.
But Lauren had already come to terms with her choice. She informed Roy that, if he were okay with it, she‘d like to consider him her dad—a sentiment that evidently touched him.
Ultimately, Reece‘s effort to shake her might have boomeranged. Instead of unraveling, Lauren appears more solid than ever, supported by the chosen family she believes in.
