Coronation Street fans know Sally Dynevor for her resilience both on and off screen, but a fresh challenge now awaits her. After years of overcoming personal battles and inspiring viewers as Sally Metcalfe, the actress is preparing for something that will test her strength in a new way.
From Storyline to Reality
At 46, Dynevor was diagnosed with breast cancer just as her character faced the same battle on screen. That storyline prompted her to check herself, leading to the diagnosis. She admitted she once thought she was too young for breast cancer but soon realised age doesn’t matter. She urged others to act on the first signs and see a doctor right away.

Since recovering, Dynevor has worked tirelessly to support breast cancer prevention. In 2019, she trekked to Everest Base Camp to raise funds for Prevent Breast Cancer, showing her commitment goes far beyond words. Now 62, Dynevor is taking on a five-day trek to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. She admitted she doesn’t know why she chose such a challenge, other than her strong wish to support the charity. As a survivor, she said she wants to do as much as she can.
Raising Awareness
For Dynevor, the climb is about more than reaching the summit. She hopes her journey reminds women that breast cancer can affect anyone, no matter their age, and that early checks are vital. Nikki Barraclough, chief executive of Prevent Breast Cancer, will also take part. She explained that the money raised will fund research into genes, early detection, preventative drugs, and risk-reducing factors.

Dynevor’s trek highlights her strength and her drive to support a cause that has shaped her life. Her determination will inspire fans and many others facing health battles of their own. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest updates and news from Coronation Street.
