Christmas on Coronation Street is never just about mince pies and tinsel. This year, the festive season looks packed with awkward dinners, uncomfortable silences, and a few moments that could easily tip things over the edge. As Weatherfield gears up for Christmas week, it feels like trouble is quietly lining up behind the fairy lights.
Coronation Street: Becky Swain Has Other Plans This Christmas
Let’s start with Becky Swain, because she clearly isn’t in the mood for festive goodwill. When she finds out that D.I. Costello is improving and about to be moved to a rehab facility, Becky wastes no time getting involved. She decides to go along for the ride, and it’s obvious she has more on her mind than simply wishing him well.

Earlier, Asha Alahan reconnects with Sienna ahead of a work meeting, which unknowingly helps Becky make her move. Using Lisa’s police badge and a very convincing act, Becky tells Sienna that she’s there on official business and that the police are worried about Costello’s wellbeing. But once she’s alone with him, the tone changes completely. Becky drops the smile, asks if he’s happy to see her, and Costello’s frightened reaction makes it clear this situation is not harmless.
Todd’s Christmas Becomes Another Theo Power Play
Meanwhile, Christmas at home is anything but relaxing for Todd Grimshaw. Theo Silverton turns up with bags of food and immediately starts picking at Todd, even having a go at his gift wrapping. The digs are constant and uncomfortable, and Todd can’t hide how tense he feels.

Things get worse when Theo announces he’s invited Billy Mayhew, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Glenda, and George Shuttleworth over for Christmas dinner. As if that isn’t enough pressure, he then tells Todd that he’ll be cooking the whole meal himself. With Theo’s controlling behaviour on full display, it’s hard not to wonder how much more Todd can put up with.
Coronation Street: Eva and Maggie Clash at the Rovers on Christmas Day
Over at the Rovers, Christmas Day quickly turns awkward for the Driscoll family. It’s their first Christmas running the pub, but Eva Price is furious when she finds out that Maggie Driscoll has invited her ex Adam Barlow and his girlfriend Alya Nazir to dinner without checking with her first.

The mood only gets worse when Maggie insults Eva by comparing her to a swine. Then Megan Walsh arrives, acting completely at home, and Will Driscoll is clearly delighted to see her. Ben Driscoll tries his best to keep the peace and calm Eva down, but with so many unresolved issues at the table, a drama-free Christmas feels unlikely.
Abi Starts to Question Carl on Boxing Day
By Boxing Day, it’s Carl Webster who’s feeling the heat. While Abi Webster thinks they’ve shared a normal family Christmas, Carl has secretly squeezed in a steamy afternoon with James Bailey behind her back. Abi senses something isn’t right and gives Carl the cold shoulder, sending him off to deal with business.

That’s when Tracy Barlow tries to get involved. But her meddling is cut short when James turns up and starts chatting with Abi. As they talk, Abi notices the necklace James is wearing, and it clearly strikes a nerve. Even though she tries to brush it off, it’s obvious the necklace has made her suspicious. And it feels like Abi might finally be starting to connect the dots.
With Christmas already feeling tense across the cobbles, it looks like the fallout will carry on well beyond Boxing Day. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street spoilers.
