Gemma Winter-Brown’s warm relationships with the new inhabitants of Coronation Street are set to take a bumpy turn. Weatherfield has always been full of drama, but the arrival of Mick and Lou Michaelis must have raised the stakes. From cringe-worthy encounters with neighbors to unwanted comments, the couple soon became street gossip.
And although some have attempted to offer them a friendly welcome, others have appeared to stand back in suspicion, possibly for a very good reason. Now, it looks like someone who initially offered them an olive branch is having second thoughts.
Coronation Street: Gemma Pulls Away After a Warning
Gemma Winter-Brown has thus far been one of the only warm faces towards the brash new arrivals. That all changes, however, in future episodes airing on Monday, April 7.
Following a warning regarding Mick and Lou—although the source of this warning is kept under wraps—Gemma starts questioning her association with them. Even after agreeing to have lunch with Lou, Gemma stands her up at the last minute, claiming one of her children is ill.
It could have paid off if only Lou hadn’t seen her smiling and chatting in the café later. The atmosphere is strained as Lou confronts her with a rigid smile and asks aggressively if she’s not at home looking after her ill child.
Cornered and caught out, Gemma finds herself scrambling for an explanation. The moment could mark the end of her budding friendship with Lou—or perhaps even spark something messier.
The End Is Near for Mick and Lou—But With One Big Question Left
As Gemma copes with the consequences of her lie, more drama is on the horizon. It’s been revealed that Lou and Mick will depart the cobbles later this year in a double exit.
A Coronation Street rep revealed the duo were destined to shake things up as part of a bigger summer story. Their exit, though, leaves one big loose end behind: their secret son, Brody.
Brody, who is serving his time with Dylan STC turns out to be Mick and Lou’s son—however, his biological father is Kit Green. With the couple’s imminent departure and tensions building with their sole ally on the street, the Mick and Lou saga is over. If anything, the actual chaos may only be beginning.
