The drama never really lets up in Coronation Street, particularly for Sarah Barlow. Following months of emotional turmoil and heartbreak, life in Weatherfield is set to throw her another surprise twist. With old scars still tender and former romances firmly in the past, for the time being, Sarah finds herself at the focal point of attention once more. But this time, it‘s someone new doing the pursuing.
Coronation Street: Kit Green Sets His Sights on Sarah
In episodes to be broadcast next week, Sarah realizes she‘s caught the eye of a new suitor—none other than Kit Green. Fans will see Kit attempting to woo Sarah in a lively scene at the Rovers Return. Although Kit is perhaps still getting over his recent romantic escapade with Daisy Midgeley, he wastes no time turning his charm on Sarah.
Not one for jumping headlong into a new relationship, Sarah takes things easy. Though she‘s attracted to Kit, she keeps him on his toes instead of going out with no game. There is a teasing undercurrent between the two of them that hints at some saucy moments to come, though if it ends up developing beyond a lighthearted level remains an open question.
A Complicated Past Still Remains
Kit‘s interest in Sarah comes as she starts her life over again following a complicated love life. Her last relationship with bad boy Damon Hay was behind prison walls. Damon is serving a six-year term for his involvement in an armed robbery masterminded by his brother, Harvey Gaskell. At a fraught prison visit, Damon confirmed it was their relationship. Even though Sarah was willing to wait for him, Damon pressed her not to put her whole life on hold for him.
Sarah‘s relationship with Damon had catastrophic repercussions, causing her marriage to Adam Barlow to collapse. The emotional damage still casts a long shadow over her story. Sarah’s actress, Tina O‘Brien, spoke about her character‘s residual emotions, saying that Sarah may have attempted to salvage her marriage if Adam had been willing to try again.
In O‘Brien‘s view, Sarah would have tried again at marriage after their painful split-up if Adam had been willing to reconcile. But his adamant choice to leave pushed Sarah away, too. She also conceded that Sarah might still feel for Adam, although she might deny it.
The actress explained that she loved the tension left between the two characters, inferring that the “will they, won‘t they?” factor made their storyline all the more interesting. She likened the dynamic to Sarah‘s past with Gary Windass, alluding to an ever-present emotional tug that never fully disappears.
While Sarah and Kit exchange teasing looks over drinks, fans will be highly alert. Is Sarah ready to move on at last? Or is the past not yet finished with her? Only the upcoming Coronation Street spoilers can reveal. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more soap updates.
