According to Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy, their shared pain helped form a strong emotional bond between the two. As they spent more time together, Betsy started seeing Dylan in a new light. He’s calm, kind, and respectful; very different from the fiery boys she’s known before.
Sydney explained that Dylan makes Betsy feel safe, and that’s something she hasn’t felt in a long time. In upcoming scenes, things get worse and Betsy storms out after yet another clash. She’s tired of being treated like a child and wants the freedom to make her own decisions.
Just days before the birthday, Mason’s name comes up during a family dinner, and it shakes Betsy. Sydney shared that it’s a reminder of everything she’s lost and it pushes her to stop waiting and start living. From that point on, she begins doing things her way, even if it means keeping things from her mum.
Sydney described the mother-daughter relationship as full of love but broken communication. Lisa thinks she’s being protective, but Betsy sees it as controlling.
