Just when you think things will simmer down on the cobbles, a storm in a leather jacket rides in. There’s a new face shaking up things in good old Coronation Street style. Now, one of the town’s younger inhabitants is going to be caught in the middle. But who‘s fanning the flames this time around? Let‘s just say, he’s rapidly becoming a pro at rubbing people the wrong way…
Mick’s Meddling Reaches New Heights
Mick Michaelis hasn’t wasted any time since he arrived in Weatherfield—he‘s already succeeded in riling half the street. Next week, sparks will fly when Mick meets Kit, and it won‘t be long before a shared history of secrets is revealed.
But whereas Kit’s maintaining his cool, Mick’s got his hands in every pie. Take Gary Windass’s plan to purchase the builder’s yard, for instance. Maria wasn’t keen—actually, she was completely opposed to the idea. But who urged Gary on?
That’s right: Mick. And behold, hardly had Gary signed on the dotted line than he made Mick an offer of employment at the very yard he had purchased. What a planned coincidence!
Maria didn’t mince words, she’s not impressed. She’s seething over her partner’s new recruit, and rightly so. But Gary, obviously starry-eyed over his business aspirations, won’t listen to anything bad about Mick. He’s desperate to get this business going, no matter who he drags along for the ride.
Mick Pulls a Nasty Stunt in Coronation Street
But here’s where it all goes wrong. Next week, little Liam and his friend Jake accompany Gary and Mick to the yard for a little work experience. But that takes a completely different turn!
First off, Mick appears to be doing the decent thing when a group of lads target Liam and steal his phone. Mick jumps in and sort-of rescues him. Sadly, that fleeting moment of dignity wears off quickly. Later in the day, Mick chooses to reveal his true colours… in the form of a joke that’s far from funny.
In the cringe scenes that’ll have viewers shuddering, Liam finds himself completely covered in cement, thanks to Mick being the ringleader in an overly harsh childish prank. It’s a cruel day for the kid, but he tries his best to laugh and play along even though the joke was on him. Beneath it all, it’s apparent he’s offended.
And though he may have been toughing it out, there’s no denying this was a low blow, particularly from an adult who should have known better.
Will Gary and Maria Finally See Mick for Who He Is?
Later that night, Gary and Maria go out for a drink with Mick, none the wiser about what their stepson has just been through. Mick, naturally, plays it cool, like nothing has ever happened. But for how long can he maintain the charade before the truth comes spilling out?
Maria already has a sense that something’s off about him, and if she discovers that Mick attacked Liam, her mama bear senses will be in full swing. Gary, also, may have to take a hard, hard look at the man he’s relied on with both his business and his family.
