Matt Milburn Shares How He Wishes To Work with Soap Star Brother
Matt Milburn recently expressed his regret about not having the chance to work with his soap star brother, Greg Wood, who plays gangster Rick Neelan. However, the character met a grim end in 2019 when Gary Windass killed him and buried him in the woods.
Meanwhile, Matt returned to Weatherfield this year as footballer Tommy Orpington. With his arrival, he got involved in an affair with Tracy McDonald. While Matt loves working with his Corrie castmates, he can’t help but wonder how exciting it would have been if Tommy and Rick had ever crossed paths on the cobbles.
The soap star admired his brother’s acting talent, describing him as a ‘fantastic actor.’ He said, “It’s on my bucket list…to work together at some point.” He added that their careers have never crossed despite being involved in major soaps and other projects.
Matt mentioned that it was unfortunate that Greg’s character, Rick Neelan, was no longer alive. Moreover, Greg was the one who had informed him about the Tommy Orpington role. He admitted that he would have loved the opportunity to work with Greg. The star also revealed that his brother was his biggest inspiration.
He highlighted that initially, he had no strong desire to pursue acting and was planning to get into sports journalism. Milburn shared that his brother Greg was preparing for an acting job while he was accepted to university in his late teens. Inspired by Greg’s performances and the excitement he saw, Matt decided to try acting.
Greg recommended Matt for a role he couldn’t take, leading Matt to discover a passion for acting despite a rough start. This experience sparked his career, and he soon landed an audition for Hollyoaks, where he stayed for three years. Hence, the Corrie star credits Greg as a major inspiration for his acting journey.
