Former Star On His Comeback & Life After Exiting Corrie
Maximus Evans is famous for his role as Corey Brent. He burst onto the scene in 2019 with a shocking storyline where Corey and his gang brutally attacked Seb Franklin and Nina. The attack was so severe that Seb sadly died from his injuries. Nina, left with memory loss from the trauma, struggled to remember what happened.
But as she recalled a walk with Seb before the attack, she pieced together the events and identified the culprits. Corey’s role in the attack was only revealed by Stu Carpenter after he found a bag with Corey’s clothes from the night of the attack. Once the police got it, they could arrest him.
After leaving in 2021, the actor chose to study drama. Three years later, he’s rehearsing for a theatre production of Never Let Me Go. Recently, he revealed, “The truth is, I didn’t want to be tied down. Not just to the character, but through one form of acting.”
Although he enjoyed his time at Corrie, he felt it was limited and wanted to explore different roles. He admitted that acting had been a passion since childhood, as it was a place where he could indeed be himself. After leaving Corrie, he chose to focus on theatre to expand his range beyond the soap.
He described his time at Corrie as intense and noted that drama school allowed him to refine his craft and meet new people. The former soap star shared that drama school has significantly impacted him. He admitted feeling quite tense when he first arrived at drama school, having to adjust from his intense role.
Maximus noted that it took him some time to loosen up and adapt to switching between characters. However, with support from his peers and the staff, he eventually settled into the theatre cast. Reflecting on his time after soap exit, he said, “I was able to become me, which I think was important – I didn’t want my time with Corrie to interfere with my training.”
Viewers must recall that Corey hasn’t been killed off, which leaves the door open for a possible return. However, ITV former prefers exploring other areas of the industry. He mentioned that returning isn’t a priority now, as he’s keen to pursue different opportunities.
He stated, “I want to get a couple of other boxes ticked, but you never know! He might get an early release, we’ll see!” Well, in that case, he might not return at this moment, but we can expect it in the long run.
