It has been a long while since we saw the iconic Les Battersby on Coronation Street, and might we add that the actor and his stellar performance are mightily missed. However, in his absence, his daughter Leanna and stepdaughter Toyah have remained in the limelight. Even in the ongoing storylines, the sisters are trying to come to terms with their entwined love lives.
Previously, Nick started an affair with Toyah, despite being in a relationship with Leanne. The latter recently found the truth about the affair, and all three of them seem to be reeling in the aftermath of it. In recent Coronation Street episodes, Laenne told Toyah that they both needed to move out of Nick’s flat so that he could move in with Sam.
Furthermore, Leanne added that she has found a new place to live in, but told Toyah that she was not in the right mind space to share a home with her. Later, Toyah had to inform Sam that she and Leanne were moving out. When Sam expressed sadness over it, she assured him that life would be better for him this way. He would have two fridges to raid, two rooms, and extra streaming subscriptions.
Interestingly, the recent Corrie episode also featured a conversation between Leanne and Toyah that addressed Les Battersby. The former told her sister that she had a conversation with her father when he recently called her up. She explained that he sounded rather buzzed and wanted an update on her life.
Leanne admitted that even though she spoke to him, she didn’t quite tell him the truth about what was actually going on in their lives. Furthermore, she added that the conversation was rather short as she could barely hear him, and that he was perhaps at a wrestling match. The second we heard Leanne say the words “wresting match” we burst out laughing.
Corrie really can be cheek when making references to characters and their backstories. Many fans would have picked on it instantly but for the unversed, it was a wink to Bruce Jones getting involved with the sport in real life. Interestingly, during his real-life wrestling stint Bruce even faced off with former Corrie co-star Steven Arnold who played Ashley Peacock.
