If you thought newcomer Jodie was going to blend into the background on Coronation Street, think again. The moment she steps foot inside the Platt house, things turn tense, especially where Nick Tilsley is concerned. While everyone else is trying to be kind and supportive, Nick senses trouble, and before long, the two are locked in an uneasy stand-off, with Jodie hiding a secret she’s clearly desperate to keep buried.

Nick Instantly Knows Something Isn’t Right

Jodie’s arrival was dramatic enough, after viewers first saw her escaping from the back of a van during the Corriedale crossover. Still shaken and clearly frightened, she seemed like someone who needed help.

But Nick isn’t convinced and that feeling hits the moment he finds her inside number eight while David is still at the hospital. Nick doesn’t recognise her, doesn’t trust her, and definitely doesn’t like how comfortable she already looks.

Jodie tries to play it calm, but Nick’s body language says it all; he’s not buying her story. By the time David and Shona walk through the door, it’s obvious that Jodie has already rubbed Nick the wrong way. What really bothers Nick is how quickly she settles in. This is the same woman others described as terrified after the crash, yet now she’s acting relaxed and at ease. To Nick, it just doesn’t add up.

Why Jodie Is So Focused On Shona And David in Coronation Street

It soon becomes clear that Jodie isn’t just drifting through Weatherfield by accident. After the horrific minibus crash on the way back from Debbie Webster’s wedding, David Platt and Shona Platt were rushed to hospital, where Shona went into labour.

That’s when Jodie starts hovering around them. She even stops David in the hospital corridor to ask how his baby is doing. Later, she takes a teddy and heads toward Shona’s room.

The truth finally comes out when Jodie admits she’s someone from Shona’s past and confirms she was also involved in the crash. It’s a huge shock for David and Shona. Still, when David later finds Jodie having a panic attack in the hospital car park, his instinct is to help, and he offers her a place to stay. Once under the Platts’ roof, Jodie fits in far too easily for Nick’s liking. She gets on brilliantly with Bethany and Lily and everyone else starts to relax, except Nick.

Nick can’t shake the feeling that Jodie is hiding something big. She dodges certain questions, chooses her words carefully, and never quite explains why she’s really there. Every time Nick watches her, his suspicions grow stronger. Now, the Platt house feels like a pressure cooker. Jodie thinks she’s secured her place, but Nick isn’t letting his guard down. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
