Ryan Thomas Makes A Comeback After 8 Years
Guess who’s back in Manchester City Centre? It’s Ryan Thomas, known for his role as builder Jason Grimshaw. The actor has returned to the show’s old production base. After rocking Dancing On Ice earlier this year and winning the crown, he’s now set to host his very own gameshow, 99 to Beat, alongside his brother Adam.
The soap star revisited his old stomping ground at Old Granada Studios in Manchester’s Castlefield area. For an incredible 53 years, Corrie was filmed here before moving to a new, purpose-built location near MediaCityUK in 2014. After a stint as a tourist spot, most of the original buildings were either cleared or revamped.
Now, Aviva Studios stands on the site. You can still see remnants like the viaduct and bistro facade attached to the main studio building. The star shared pictures on Instagram of the street turned into a parking lot. He captioned, “I got invited to a friend’s 70th in Manchester last week. I had no idea it would be in the old medical centre of the original Coronation Street.”
Reflecting on the experience, he expressed how emotional it was to return to the most critical time of his life. He acknowledged that he wouldn’t be where he is today without that magical place from his childhood. Pointing out the Grimshaw family home in another photo, he mentioned that he auditioned for Jason at the top of that building.
Back in Weatherfield, Jason’s mom, Eileen, visits him in Thailand. They planned this storyline, so Sue could take time off to do a theatre show.
