Coronation Street viewers are used to seeing Abi Webster front and centre during major moments on the cobbles. But as the festive season approaches, the actor behind the character has made major announcement. Sally Carman-Duttine has been giving fans a glimpse into her life away from Weatherfield. She even hinted that the end of the year will be filled with celebration, tradition, and plenty of personal touches.
Abi Webster’s Journey and a Life Largely Kept Private
Fans of the ITV soap will know Sally Carman-Duttine best for her role as Abi Webster. Her arrival came during a significant period for the show, which has since gone on to celebrate its 65th anniversary. Away from the cobbles, Sally usually keeps her private life just that, private.
However, she does occasionally share updates with fans, particularly when it comes to life with her husband, Joe Duttine. Viewers will recognise Joe as Tim Metcalfe, a role he stepped into several years earlier in 2013. Interestingly, although both actors appeared in Channel 4’s Shameless, they didn’t actually work together at the time.
From Moving In to Saying “I Do”, All the Christmas Feels
As their relationship grew stronger, Sally and Joe moved into a new home together toward the end of 2019. Two years later, they took another major step forward when they tied the knot in July 2022. Sally later confirmed their wedding news on Instagram. She shared an image and explaining in her caption that they had officially said, “We did.”
Earlier this year, Sally also shared how they celebrated their third wedding anniversary. Abi actor posted pictures on Instagram and explained that her husband had bought her a beautifully carved butterfly, handcrafted by artist and woodcarver Nick Wood. She said they both love his work and wanted to give others the chance to appreciate it too. She added that it was a special gift and clarifying it was not an advertisement.
More recently, the soap star has been opening up about how she and Joe plan to spend Christmas this year. A self-confessed lover of the festive season, Sally revealed that she and her husband will be spending Christmas in Scotland. She explained that they are heading there for a few days and will be staying in what she described as a very lovely and Christmassy hotel. Back at the house, Sally makes it clear that festive decorating is taken very seriously.
Sally shared that she has an Iceland or winter wonderland display, a wonderland forest display, and a camp pink reindeer corner filled with big snowballs and pink reindeers. She also revealed that Christmas trees are everywhere in their home. The actress explained that they have three seven-foot trees inside the house alone and eight trees in total.
When Christmas finally comes to an end, Sally takes a different approach to the new year. She admitted that she doesn’t do New Year’s resolutions and isn’t entirely sure why.
