Abi Webster’s marriage is again on the edge once again, as her latest actions throw Kevin into fresh heartbreak. The storyline grows darker by the day, and Sally Carman has now admitted that the consequences could be devastating for both the couple and herself.
Cracks in the Marriage
Abi risked everything when she started an affair with Kevin’s younger brother Carl. She admitted that Kevin still matters to her because of their shared history, yet she also confessed she no longer feels love for him. That truth alone throws their future into doubt. Sally Carman revealed at the Inside Soap Awards photoshoot that she loves playing out the storyline but hates the thought of losing scenes with Mike Le Vell, who plays Kevin.

Sally described him as her “work husband” and said their chemistry on set feels like a marriage of its own. She admitted that stepping away from that bond would hurt deeply. She added that Mike holds her heart forever as a colleague and friend. Even though she will see him outside of work, she confessed she would miss working with him every day if the marriage ends.
Coronation Street Affair Under Threat
Tracy Barlow uncovers the affair in tonight’s episode, and she wastes no time plotting how to use it. Her discovery places Abi in immediate danger, and it threatens to drive Kevin away once the truth spreads. Sally explained that Abi cannot trust Carl but still clings to the idea of a fairytale. She said Abi hurls herself toward disaster with blind hope, and Tracy’s discovery makes everything worse.

Of all people to expose the secret, Sally pointed out, Tracy is the most dangerous. She warned that viewers should prepare for fireworks as the truth comes out. Even with Abi’s marriage collapsing on screen, Sally celebrates recognition off screen. She earned a nomination at the Inside Soap Awards for Best Storyline, thanks to her performance in Mason Radcliffe’s death plot and Abi’s PTSD afterwards. She called the nomination a huge honour and said it felt wonderful to see the team’s work recognised.
The actor admitted she never knew Abi would take such a central role in Mason’s exit until the scripts arrived. Once she read them, she realised the story would push her into one of Abi’s most emotional moments, from the clash in Seb’s garden to Mason’s final breath. She described the experience as intense and rewarding, and she thanked viewers for recognising it.

Still, Sally tied everything back to Abi and Kevin, and admitted that as much as she enjoys the drama, the possible split leaves her feeling bittersweet. As Tracy brings her knives out and Abi drifts further from Kevin, the Webster marriage faces its toughest battle yet. Sally’s words make it clear that this could mark the couple’s most painful chapter. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street drama and updates from your favourite soaps.
