The Coronation Street schedule is about to face yet another hiccup this week, which has left the fans frustrated as sports events continue to take priority on ITV. This comes just as one of the soap’s most gripping storylines starts to peak up—the Platt house fire. It’s quite obvious for the fans to be disappointed as the schedules change at such a crucial time.

Sports Takes the Priority

ITV has confirmed that the soap schedule will change again this week due to the Six Nations Championship sports coverage. Soap fans were already disappointed when the Friday episode was scrapped for the rugby game, and they only got to watch two episodes instead of three. Now, the football game is causing another reshuffle.

ITV has dedicated nearly 3 hours to the FA Cup this Friday, which means the soap will not be heard that evening. Instead, viewers can catch the episodes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. However, how IT plans to compensate for the last episode remains unclear. Moreover, the scheduling chaos couldn’t come at a worse time. The soap is in the middle of one of its most explosive storylines, and that’s just compounding the frustration.

Last week, on Coronation Street, the Platt family home was in flames, which tested the fate of many characters. As it turns out, the fire resulted from David‘s reckless decision to steal money from the gangster Harvey Gaskell. While the tensions had been building up for quite a while now, it finally led to the much-awaited house fire scene fans were looking forward to.

Now that a packed week of drama is ahead, loyal soap viewers will just have to adjust their schedules. All we can do is hope the older schedule gets on track again. For more updates on the soap schedules and Coronation Street‘s comings and goings—stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily.
