Eileen Grimshaw can’t seem to catch a break. Already grieving the death of her sister Julie in Coronation Street, she now finds herself at the center of another scandal, and this time it’s close to home.
Eileen Finds Herself Accused
It all began when Eileen was made sole beneficiary in Julie’s will, causing a few eyebrows to be raised around Weatherfield. Meanwhile, things have not been rosy between her and George Shuttleworth. When Eileen rejected his offer of marriage, the couple encountered a rough patch. Then Jason’s surprise return after nine years’ absence created more tension.
But the bombshell came with the latest issue of the Weatherfield Gazette. Eileen was appalled to see a report accusing her of conspiring with George and Todd to commit insurance fraud on the back of Julie’s death. Describing it as “slanderous” and “character assassination,” she called on an investigation to find out who broke the story.
Coronation Street: Theo Puts the Pieces Together
Initially, Tracy McDonald was the one suspected. However, soon enough, Theo Silverton, with help from Steve McDonald, tracked it back to Noah Hedley. Steve made Eileen aware, leaving her perplexed as to why Noah would do it. Theo thought it was revenge, suggesting there was a history of bad blood between them. Todd also owned up to his own explosion at Julie’s funeral having possibly contributed to the scenario.
Meanwhile, elsewhere upstairs at the Rovers, estranged wife Danielle became intimate with Jason and Theo after some flirtatious banter, leaving the group reeling.
Later, George had a quiet drink with Eileen and assured her they could ride out this together. The two of them found some solace in one another and decided to move on.
But Jason’s gesture of taking Eileen back to Thailand still weighed on her mind. She had dismissed it at first, but now she’s surely thinking that perhaps a new life overseas could be the clean slate she desires. Whatever decision she makes next, Eileen’s future looks anything but boring. Stick with Soap Opera Daily for more twists from Weatherfield and beyond.
