PREGNANCY NIGHTMARE? Shona Collapses As David’s Worst Fear Comes True In Coronation Street

Christmas should have brought a sense of comfort for David and Shona in Coronation Street, but instead, it only highlights how fragile things really are. With so much already weighing on them, every small moment feels loaded, as if one wrong step could change everything. And just when it seems like they might make it through the festive period in one piece, something happens that stops them both in their tracks.

A Pregnancy That Has Already Changed Everything

From the start, Shona’s pregnancy has been anything but joyful. It should have been a time of excitement quickly turned into heartbreak when David and Shona discovered their unborn baby has a cancerous tumour.

The news alone was devastating, but it became even harder to process when doctors explained that the only surgery that could help the baby could also put Shona’s life in danger. David has been plagued with doubts about their decision not to terminate the pregnancy and has quietly questioned whether they made the right choice.

Shona, on the other hand, refuses to dwell on the risks. She’s determined to carry the baby to full term and won’t allow fear to dictate her decisions. That determination led Shona to keep the tumour diagnosis from their family and friends.

She wanted to protect everyone and carry on as normally as possible. But David couldn’t bury his head in the sand. Under pressure, he ended up revealing the truth. Shona was furious when she realised what David had done, but despite the anger and hurt, the couple eventually managed to reconcile.

A False Sense Of Calm Over The Festive Period

For a brief moment, life settles into an almost familiar rhythm for the Platts. David’s biggest worries seem strangely ordinary, from accidentally moaning about Shona’s antenatal class to the very teacher who runs it, to making sure the family finishes Christmas dinner in time to watch the Queen’s speech, which, in their house, means Gail’s Christmas message, delivered by the Queen of Weatherfield herself.

But that peace hides something darker. As New Year’s Day arrives, the atmosphere shifts. While Shona is putting away the Christmas decorations, she suddenly feels a sharp, painful twinge and clutches her bump. Almost immediately, she begins struggling to draw breath, her distress clear as panic sets in.

Watching Shona in pain brings all of David’s worst fears rushing back. He panics and refuses to take any chances, insisting they go straight to the hospital to get her checked out. So, is their unborn baby at risk, or is Shona’s life in danger? Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street updates.
