Life is a mess right now for Bernie and Billy on Coronation Street. They have both suffered a huge loss in Paul’s passing and are trying to come to terms with their new reality in their own personal ways. While they both share the loss of the same person, the two have failed to connect with each other in their shared grief.
Perhaps, their clash stem from the differences in the kind of people they both are. “They are obviously quite different in their approach to life and subsequently therefore death as well,” actor Daniel Brocklebank told Metro, speaking about Billy’s clash with Bernie over Paul’s funeral.
They both want to give Pual a send-off in their own unique ways and are not able to reach a common ground. Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Gemma Winter Brown gave Bernie some sound advice and suggested that she let Billy set up Paul’s funeral his way, and they can arrange a send-off of their own for Paul later.
Now the preparations have begun for Paul’s memorial, however, Gemma informs Billy that Kit Green still hasn’t confirmed whether or not they will be able to close off the Street. We will have to wait and find out if Kit manages to pull some strings to get the street closed off to assist in the memorial.
Daniel Brocklebank revealed that Bernie is very traditional and that’s the kind of memorial he wants to set up for Paul. He wants hymns and a hearse. Obviously, that’s not what Bernie wants. She thinks pop songs are the way to go. So, despite Gemma’s advice, there might be some more clashes for Billy and Bernie in the upcoming episodes.
