Next week on Coronation Street from June 9 to 13, Maria’s growing tension with Lou Michaelis threatens to explode, just as Craig Tinker’s loved ones gather for an emotional memorial. Betsy Swain digs into her late mum’s past behind Lisa’s back, and Toyah risks reopening old wounds with Leanne. But while some residents try to keep the peace, others find themselves caught in the fallout.
Maria and Lou’s Bitter Rivalry Hits a Boiling Point
It all begins when Kit Green presses Lou Michaelis to undergo a DNA test to determine if he’s indeed Brody’s father. Lou doesn’t take the bait, obviously reluctant to open that can of worms. Soon enough, Kit catches Brody attempting to swiping wine from a delivery truck. Although Kit warns him off, Brody gets back at him by making a harassment report.
But Lisa Swain doesn’t believe it for a moment. She speeds up the process and informs Kit what Brody had done. But things become even more complicated when Kit, Sarah Platt, and Bernie Winter subsequently discover Brody hurt in an alley next to a smashed whiskey bottle.
Meanwhile, Lou instructs Gary Windass to assist in the sale of Mick’s van, but she takes a runner when Maria Connor arrives.
Later, she goads Maria in the salon until Maria reluctantly requests that she mind the shop for her while attending Craig Tinker’s memorial. Subsequently, Gary encourages Lou to attend the memorial as a goodwill gesture, but not everyone believes she should be there.
Maria Ends Up in Handcuffs—But Is She Guilty?
The animosity between Lou and Maria continues. When Lou listens in on Maria discussing the Platt barbecue with Shona, Lou hangs around the salon as Shona steps outside leaving phone and cash behind. When Shona invites Lou in to wait, Lou spots the envelope of cash.
Next, just when everything seems a little too calm, Maria comes back and catches Lou behaving suspiciously. Believing something is off, she instructs Lou to turn out her pockets.
Soon, a crash echoes from the living room. Lou is discovered lying on the floor near a broken coffee table with Maria looming over her.
Later, at The Rovers, Maria complains to Sarah—but their chat is interrupted as the police turn up and arrest Maria for ABH. No witnesses, so it’s Maria’s word against Lou’s. But has Maria lost control or has Lou spun a tale?
Betsy Swain Uncovers the Truth in Coronation Street
Meanwhile, at the Swain residence, Carla is worried about Lisa and attempts to cheer her up. Lisa keeps herself busy with old records, but when Betsy peeks, Lisa grabs the document and says it has paternity information Betsy cannot view until she turns eighteen.
Nevertheless, Betsy’s inquisitiveness only intensifies. She shares her letter with Lauren Bolton and reveals to her a photograph of a letter that seems to be associated with her deceased mother, Becky. Without further ado, Betsy and Lauren go see Logan Radcliffe at prison. There, she tells Logan she is prepared to know the truth.
Craig’s Memorial Leaves a Key Voice Missing
As Craig’s memorial is near, Kit informs Lisa that the family has invited him to speak a few words. But during the memorial service, Kit does not appear. Lisa, already tense, becomes increasingly anxious by the minute.
Even when Bernie and Sarah try to reach him, Kit doesn’t appear. With Kirk Sutherland too overcome with emotion to fill in, Lisa takes matters into her own hands and gives the eulogy herself. She speaks a moving tribute, flanked by neighbors and friends. But the occasion is tainted by Kit’s absence—and no one knows why he didn’t attend.
Todd Feels Pushed Aside by Theo
At the same time, Todd Grimshaw has choppy waters to navigate with Theo Silverton. When Theo leaves Millie and goes to talk with Danielle, Todd’s left to keep the teenager entertained. In the course of their conversation, Millie lets slip a shock of news, but Todd holds it in for now.
Later, Theo assures Todd that their relationship isn’t over, he’s simply prioritising his kids. Todd feels reassured and suggests they have lunch together. But as soon as Theo sees a missed call from Millie, he bails once again. To add insult to injury, Theo stands her up on a date, and Todd catches sight of a picture Millie has put up with her family. As he scrolls through the photo, the pangs of exclusion are too hard to escape.
Toyah Meddles Again in Coronation Street
Elsewhere, Toyah Habeeb goes too far. Leanne Battersby has lunch with Ronnie Bailey, and the two both feel it’s great to spend time together. But when Leanne’s out of earshot, Toyah traps Ronnie and tells him not to get too close, saying Leanne’s been through too much and can’t handle any more drama.
Ronnie keeps insisting it’s all friendship, but when Leanne comes back and finds Toyah in the middle of a discussion, she’s angry. Considering their rough past, particularly since Toyah slept with Nick Tilsley, Leanne is already on edge. This recent action could be the tipping point.
As the week progresses, things continue to get worse. Maria is in serious trouble, Betsy gets nearer to uncovering her family’s secret past, and Todd is starting to feel like a third wheel in Theo’s life. Meanwhile, Kit’s sudden absence raises questions and Toyah’s interfering might be driving her and Leanne to an irretrievable breaking point.
