Asha Alahan’s Desperate Cry for Help
Dev and Bernie return from celebrating their wedding night only for Bernie to express concern about Asha. In the shop, an exhausted Asha drinks wine before suddenly ordering Brody to mind the counter and leaving.
Later, Theo discovers her tearful and slumped on a bench at Victoria Gardens with an empty bottle. He raises the alarm, and Amy quickly calls Dev as paramedics rush to help, asking if Asha may have also taken drugs.
At the hospital, Sienna quietly reveals that drugs have been found on Asha, leaving Dev horrified. Bernie asks if Asha has tried to take her own life, and Dev admits he feels both devastated and angry that she could cause such pain to her family.
An image later confirms she will survive physically, but her mental wellbeing remains a serious concern. Dev struggles to support her, while in the Rovers, friends including Kirk and Tyrone share their worries, deciding to open up about their own struggles instead of bottling them up.
Abi Webster and Carl’s Affair Blows Up
Abi and Carl’s secret comes under threat during Ronnie Bailey’s birthday party, where Carl awkwardly finds himself between Abi and James. When young Alfie spills a drink, Carl helps while Abi cleans, and Debbie notices their intimacy. She sternly warns Abi to end things and tells Kevin to consider hiring a lawyer, making Abi panic. Believing Kevin knows the truth, Abi sends a warning text to Carl, only to realise too late that she has sent it to Kevin instead.
Carl scrambles to get hold of Kevin’s phone but fails, and the next day Kevin turns Abi away when she comes to see him and Jack. He makes clear she is no longer welcome and demands her house key back. Later, Bernie sees Kevin throwing Abi’s belongings into the street, proving he has discovered the truth. Heartbroken, Kevin distances himself from Abi, who is left to regret her choices, while Carl’s ongoing deceit threatens to cause her even more pain.
Tim Metcalfe’s Past Resurfaces
Tim recognises one of his fares as Trisha Pinkerton, a girl he knew in the 1980s, and later tells the lads in the Rovers that she is a blast from the past. But Sally is unimpressed when Trisha turns up at the cab office, furious that Tim missed their anniversary meal to spend time with her. Sally declares she is his wife and storms out, while Kevin also disapproves of the reunion.
When Tim confides in Brian, he admits he was only 14 when he became involved with Trisha, who was nearly 20 at the time. Brian is shocked and confronts Trisha, accusing her of grooming Tim. While Trisha denies it, Sally presses Tim to face the truth. And he admits she took his virginity as a teenager. Sally is shaken, and Tim must now live with the fact that what he saw as a romance was abuse.
Coronation Street: Todd Grimshaw Hides His Health Fears
Todd vents to George that Theo has not been in touch, and when Theo briefly reappears, Todd lashes out at him for disappearing. Amy later reminds Todd that if Theo had not found Asha, things could have ended far worse.
Soon after, Todd tells Theo he cannot support him at Noah Hedley’s funeral because of work. But he confides in Billy that he actually has a hospital appointment to check for bowel cancer. He explains he has not told Theo because he already has enough on his plate.
Billy supports Todd at the hospital, and later Todd thanks him, promising to tell Theo once the results come through. But Theo grows jealous when he sees Todd with Billy. And his anger intensifies when Todd agrees to dinner with George and Christina.
