Jealousy Flares and Rumours Fly in Coronation Street
Debbie nearly told Ronnie all about it, twice. But each time she got brave enough, something held her back. One day, she went to the Bistro to speak to him, but was interrupted by him chatting to Leanne Battersby.
The chat was entirely innocent, but in stereotypical soap style, Debbie jumped to conclusions and stormed off without a word being exchanged.
Eventually, when Ronnie brought her to meet an “old flame” named Fiona, Debbie became jealous. Rather than face the issue, she grabbed the phone and acted as if she was receiving a call from a new boyfriend. Ronnie, obviously hurt, took her at her word.
And to top it all, Carl informed Ronnie that Debbie had no interest in ever seeing him again. And he’s now forbidden from the Chariot Square Hotel. Enraged and caught off guard, Ronnie lashed out at Carl, and the tension very nearly boiled over into a full-blown brawl.
For the moment, Debbie’s secret is kept safely under wraps and Ronnie thinks his heart’s desire has moved on. The hurt is genuine, and so is the confusion. With feelings running high and Carl pouring fuel on the flames, the future doesn’t look bright for Weatherfield’s former strong couple. Can love still make a comeback?
