Sean Wilson’s Exit Revealed
Sean Wilson is already out even before his return scenes could air. The actor was all set to come back as Martin Platt in Helen Worth’s departure storyline. But guess what? The soap has confirmed that it’s not on the cards anymore. A spokesperson stated, “Sean Wilson has stepped down from filming for personal reasons.”
However, a spokesperson for Wilson informed The Sun that neither he nor Wilson would be making any further comments or statements. Reportedly, all the scenes Sean, who debuted in Corrie in 1985, filmed after coming back to the set last month, have been altogether scrapped and won’t air.
Back in late July, ITV teased Martin Platt’s significant return, where he was set to shock his son David by showing up unexpectedly at No. 8. The last time we saw Martin in Weatherfield was in 2018 when he moved to New Zealand with his girlfriend Robyn and their daughter Charlotte.
When the news was announced, the soap star expressed that he felt honoured to be part of Helen Worth’s exit story. He mentioned that there would be several months to revisit Martin and Gail’s story. He reflected on how playing Martin had been a joy from the start. He even teased, It will throw a spanner into the heart of the Platt family.”
Meanwhile, viewers still have Helen Worth’s exit to look forward to and worry that her character, Gail, won’t be killed off. For more Coronation Street spoilers, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily! How will Gail exit Weatherfield? Do you have any suggestions? Let us know in the comments section!
