Things are heating up on Coronation Street as another familiar face will come back soon. As regular viewers, we have watched Lauren Bolton in a troubling situation for a long time. And now, she is walking free after a dramatic trial. However, things take a drastic turn just as she hopes for a new beginning with Max Turner and Frankie.
A Surprise Comeback
The spoilers have confirmed that Scott Anson will return to the soap soon as Reece Bolton. Reece, Lauren’s father and a popular troublemaker, will return soon. Actor Scott Anson took to X to announce his soap comeback, where he shared a script and teased the fans, saying, “Bad boy Reece is back!”. Though it’s confirmed that Anson will appear in just one episode—his return will have some major implications for Lauren and Max.
Back in 2022, Reece was first introduced as a part of Max Turner’s radicalization storyline. Since then, he has been a significant part of Griff Reynold’s extremist gang. However, his reign of terror came to an end in early 2023 when Griff and his associates were arrested after planting bombs at Weatherfield’s winter market.
A Villain’s Return
As it turns out, Reece hasn’t fully disappeared and made brief appearances in July 2023 and March 2024—both when he was tied to Lauren’s struggles. Now that Lauren has been accused of Joel’s murder, his return could reopen old wounds or bring in new troubles. Lauren and Max have already had their fair share of turmoil. But it seems like Reece’s comeback will be a hurdle to their happiness. As Max has already gotten involved in another crisis, the Platt house fire, Reece’s appearance could bring more complications.
Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren, has recently expressed her gratitude to the fans for their support during her emotional scenes. She even shared on Instagram, saying, “It’s quite hard to put into words how grateful and proud and lucky I feel to be given the opportunity I’ve been given. I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who’s reached out. Without your support day in and day out—your dedication means everything to us. It keeps the show going.”
With Coronation Street typically filming six to eight weeks in advance, Reece Bolton is expected to resurface on screen around late March or early April. We can’t wait to see how Reece’s chapter unfolds. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily to keep a tab on the other soap world updates.
