A familiar face from Coronation Street has already lined up his next move after leaving the cobbles. Emrhys Cooper, who spent much of 2024 at the centre of one of the soap’s most unsettling storylines, has now confirmed a new career step following his on-screen exit and it marks a clear change away from Weatherfield drama.
Coronation Street Exit Leads To A New Career Move
Soon after wrapping up his time on Coronation Street, Emrhys Cooper revealed that he has secured a role in an upcoming movie titled Caught by Love. The 40-year-old actor shared the news on Instagram, confirming this as his first major project since leaving the soap.
Posting the film’s official poster, Emrhys said he was excited to finally share the project and encouraged followers to “come take a trip with us.”

He also confirmed that Caught by Love will air on the Hallmark Channel, a channel well known for its romantic and feel-good films. The movie stars Rachel Leigh Cook and Luke MacFarlane.
While Emrhys hasn’t revealed details about his own character, the official synopsis explains that the story follows a resort guest on a journey of self-discovery who becomes involved in an undercover investigation into stolen jewels, which unexpectedly develops into an adventurous romance.
Soap Viewers Remember His Dramatic Cobbles Exit
Emrhys made his Coronation Street debut at the beginning of 2024, playing Rowan Cunliffe, the leader of a suspicious organisation known as The Institute. His character quickly became a major talking point as Rowan began manipulating residents across Weatherfield.
A key part of the storyline involved Leanne Battersby, played by Jane Danson, whom Rowan repeatedly tried to persuade to join his organisation.

He also targeted other residents, including Amy Barlow, who became one of his victims as his schemes escalated. Rowan’s actions eventually caught up with him. His deception was exposed, leading to charges of blackmail and fraud. The storyline culminated in a tense courtroom trial that kept viewers hooked, with Rowan ultimately found guilty, bringing Emrhys’ time on the cobbles to an end.
Since his Coronation Street exit, Emrhys has continued to build on his screen career. He has taken on the role of Damien in the series Hollywood Heartthrob and also appeared in the Emmy-winning drama The Bay. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
