Former Coronation Street star Sean Wilson was left astounded after a fan pointed out a striking resemblance between him and the legendary composer Mozart. Taking to social media, the 59-year-old actor shared a fan’s screenshot of a young Mozart. He marvelled at the uncanny similarity to his soap character, Martin Platt. Martin Platt & Mozart Look-Alike?
A Corrie fan pointed out that actor Sean Wilson, who played Martin Platt, looked just like Mozart. He shared a screenshot of a young Mozart on X (Twitter), and it’s spooky how much he resembles Sean’s soap character. The actor was amazed, too.
He responded, “Well sometimes your flabber is ghasted…that’s surely not right…I play guitar everyday but that’s it lol…xx.” Viewers must remember Sean entered Weatherfield in 1985. Over the next two decades, he was at the heart of some of the show’s biggest storylines.
Sean reportedly left the show because he disagreed with the producers’ decision to pair Martin with underage Katy. After his exit, the actor became a cheese expert and started his own company, Artisan Farm, in 2009. He briefly returned in 2018 when his onscreen son, David Platt, needed his father’s support. But soon after, he left again.
Wilson remarked that he believed the world of soaps operates differently nowadays. He also mentioned feeling involved in the British soap industry during its peak. He pointed to the recent storylines for the drop in viewers. According to teh star, the stories were seamlessly intertwined during his time, with moments that could make you laugh or cry within five minutes.
Nowadays, he feels the focus is heavily on addressing societal issues.
