A new and troubling plan is playing out on Coronation Street, and it places David and Shona right at the centre of the drama. Jodie Ramsey is no longer hiding her intentions, and actor Olivia Frances Brown has now explained exactly why her character is going after their marriage. This latest move shows just how far Jodie is willing to go.
Jodie Sets Her Sights on David and Shona
Jodie arranges a night out for Shona Platt and encourages her to drink far more than she should. The plan has nothing to do with bonding.
Jodie wants Shona out of the way so she can interfere in her relationship with David Platt. Olivia Frances Brown explained that Jodie believes even a short absence gives her a chance to step into Shona’s life.

Jodie wants to experience the attention and closeness Shona has with David, even if it only lasts a few hours. That desire pushes her to ignore boundaries. A key moment shows Shona asleep after the night out while Jodie stays up watching a film with David.
Brown said Jodie craves the reassurance and comfort Shona gets every day. Feeling noticed and valued matters more to Jodie than doing the right thing.
Olivia Frances Brown Nearly Played a Different Corrie Role
Olivia Frances Brown revealed that her journey to Coronation Street almost went in another direction. She first auditioned for the soap three or four years ago for a smaller role called Crystal Hyde. Brown said she really wanted the part and felt disappointed when she did not get it.
Crystal later appeared in 2023 as Ryan Connor’s love interest and played an important role in his acid attack storyline before leaving the show.

Although another actor landed the role, casting directors told Brown they would remember her for future opportunities. Years later, they contacted her again about playing Shona’s sister. Brown said she felt thrilled and surprised that they remembered her. She recalled missing the call from her agent and waiting nervously before hearing the good news, calling the whole experience exciting and emotional.
Upcoming scenes show Jodie continuing to push herself between David and Shona after the drunken night out. After encouraging Shona to drink, Jodie calls David to help bring her home and put her to bed, placing herself right in the middle of their marriage. Jodie then uses the moment to spend time alone with David, believing she finally has his attention. However, David begins to notice her behaviour and starts questioning her intentions. The manipulation becomes harder to hide. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
