Honestly speaking, no one saw this coming on Coronation Street. When Joel Deering left the disturbing voice message on Dee-Dee’s phone, we all thought he was pulling a con. Even though DS Lisa Swain was convinced that the message was a suicide note from Joel, many fans speculated that it was a cover-up for his actual plan of running away.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. Earlier this month, Joel Deering’s body was found floating in the water on Coronation Street. At first glance, it appeared that he may have taken his own life. However, an autopsy confirmed that there was foul play. Joel had suffered a fatal blow, perhaps from a crowbar, before being dumped in the water. Thus, clarifying that he was murdered.
Currently, Kit Green is investigating the murder case. He has a long list of suspects who could be responsible for the villain’s death. Interestingly, Dee-Dee, Joel’s former lover’s, name is quite high on the list. Her recent behavior on the soap has also raised suspicions. However, there is no proof that Dee-Dee could be the murderer.
But there is enough proof that suggests that Dee-Dee’s portrayer, Channique Sterling-Brown, is really missing Joel’s portrayer, Callum Lill, on the set. The actress has previously opened up about her working rapport with the actor and has now taken to social media to post an emotional video of them from the ITV soap’s sets.

“RIP Joel Deering. You were flipping awful but you came in the form of one of my best mates and for that, I’m very grateful. A year of shenanigans, endless brews, rehearsing only to get distracted, and you carrying all my stuff,” Channique penned. She also reminisced how they have been grumpy, and giddy, and have also cried together. But for the most part have laughed together.
“Thanks for the best year Cal, I wouldn’t have wanted to tell DeeDee and Joel’s story with anyone else. Right that’s enough being nice now, we can’t afford for that head of yours to get any bigger,” she concluded. It is so clear that Channique and Callum had grown extremely fond of each other and formed a deep friendship.
We hope that someday the two will get another chance to work together as scene partners! Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers to find out who actually killed Joel Deering on the ITV sudser.
