Few roles leave such a lasting impact, but for Paula Lane, her time on Coronation Street remains unforgettable. Nearly a decade after her exit, the actress has reflected with deep appreciation on the role that shaped much of her career.

A Character Full of Controversy and Drama

Lane joined the soap in 2010 as Kylie Platt, quickly making waves with explosive storylines. Early on, she shocked viewers by selling her young son Max to her half-sister Becky McDonald, played by Katherine Kelly. She later became engaged to David Platt, with whom she had a daughter, Lily. But the marriage hit the rocks when Kylie had an affair with David’s brother Nick. Despite the turmoil, Kylie and David eventually reconciled.

Kylie’s final chapters were no less dramatic. In ITV’s 55th anniversary live episode in 2015, she killed Max’s father Callum Logan with a wrench after he attacked Sarah Platt. She, David, and Sarah buried his body under their house extension, but a car crash later exposed the truth. Kylie even considered starting fresh in Barbados with David and Becky, but her story ended in tragedy. In 2016, Kylie stepped in to protect her friend Gemma Winter and was stabbed by Clayton Hibbs and died in David’s arms.

Paula Lane’s Heartfelt Gratitude

Now 39, Lane has reflected on her time on the cobbles with immense gratitude. Sharing fan photos on Instagram, she called her Corrie years “an amazing chapter” of her career, writing that she would always be grateful for the role and the opportunities it brought, while thanking fans for the memories.
